Playground Tasks

Every Sunday around 10:30 in the morning a few Irvington parents and neighbors get together and spend an hour or two keeping the playground clean and safe. Feel free to join in! #### Next Week 1. Sweep. 1. Pickup trash. 1. Clean up west fence line (remove weeds and branches poking through fence). #### Near Future 1. Edging 1. Weed whacking 1. Repair play structure (new bolts and clean some of the rotating discs) 1. Fill in topsoil around the property 1. Remove moss (prepare for new seed) 1. Plant new grass & fertilize 1. Install new basketball backboards 1. Check covered playground roof for lost balls 1. Clean out drains #### Future 1. Relocate the dumpsters to the fence line * relocate the tether ball poles and the painting to the west * re-paint the yellow path * provide a slight visual screening on existing fence to diminish the view of the dumpsters 1. Grounds signs 1. Remove asphalt at east side of school (next to 14th) and replace with shrubs. 1. Lost & found hooks with a little shed roof on side of building. 1. Repair sidewalks (pursuing PDOT) 1. Create dog friendly area in the north west corner of the playground. 1. Replace most of blacktop with grass #### Completed 3/19/2006 1. Mowed ALL of the grass. 1. Repaired fence around new grass. 1. Swept up. 1. Picked up trash. 3/12/2006 1. Edged around garden plot area. 1. Raked wood chips. 1. Swept up. 1. Picked up trash. 3/5/2006 1. Completed seeding parking strip. 1. Used excess soil from the parking strip project in the Kindergarten class garden plots. 1. Erected temporary fencing around the parking strip. 1. Picked up trash. 3/4/2006 1. Re-graded and seeded front parking strip (Thanks to Michael Byrns and Boy Scout Troop 22!) 1. Trimmed along fence at the very north west corner. 1. Filled in low spots around the playground and parking strip. 1. Fertilized much of the grass. 1. Swept up. 1. Picked up trash. 2/26/2006 1. Edged along the south east sidewalk and parking strip. 1. Filled in low spots along the southern parking strip. 1. Swept up. 1. Picked up trash. 2/19/2006 1. Swept up. 1. Picked up trash. 2/12/2006 1. Cut Grass 1. Trimmed along west fence 1. Swept 1. Picked up trash 1. Dug for sprinkler heads 1. Raked chips Prior Items 1. Removed rotten basketball backboards 1. Removed old dangerous tree holders at west side of park 1. Improved drainage on the south side sidewalks 1. Tightened the 'walkway' in the small kids playground 1. Checked and tightened all of the bolts in the small kids playground 1. Every week we sweep and pick up trash
