Grants Committee

Irvington School’s Grants Committee was formed in early 2005 with a handful of parents. To date, the committee has raised nearly $12,000 to support student programs. The group collaborates with the school staff to research and write grants and to solicit sponsorships. The intent is to tap new sources of funding — primarily foundations and corporations. The plan ahead: We need to develop a system to decide which projects are most likely to receive support from funders, and determine how to "package" the projects (perhaps by involving a community partner). Your ideas will help. The committee needs grant writers; a Moving Parts Coordinator to keep track of grant deadlines and where projects stand; and someone to collect grant guidelines and applications, sift through them and judge whether a project might be a good fit. Anyone is welcome to join us. The more representatives on the committee, the more contacts we have, the higher our chances of success. Do you have connections to a foundation or corporate giving program? Let us know about it. Do you have a favorite program you'd like to gain support for? Let us hear it.
