  1. Irma- Welcome and introductions.
  2. January 8, 2009 minutes approved.
  3. Katie D & Marissa L, discussed the programs Arnerich Massena provides at Irvington School. Arnerich Massena provides, before-school Math & Science 5 days a week; Literacy Groups 4 day a week, during the school day. This provides extra support to students who need it (2-5grade); Homework Club, Girls’ Club, Math & Science Club are all offered once a week. Math & Science Summer Camp and Journalism Camp. This is Arnerich Massena’s 15th year at Irvington School. THANKS FOR YOUR COMMITMENT TO IRVINGTON STUDENTS.
  4. Cynthia Chase, reported on library updates:  Julie has ordered a wide variety of books for the library. Julie is also working to re-configure the library so that it is more user friendly for all ages. Irvington’s library books should be completely bar-coded and logged by the end of February. Library improvements are moving along and are ahead of schedule.
  5. Stand for Children: Presented information on the Presidents Day Rally at the State Capital Feb 16th 12pm-1pm.
  6. Nathan C,  gave update on grounds committee. Planning to move forward with the completion of the North end of the grounds/Lizard area.
  7. Principal Macleod, reported on school updates: 5th grade family information night this month, 8th graders are visiting High Schools such as Benson, Tubman Girls academy.  Grant HS will be forecasting with all 8th grade students for next year regardless if they are planning to attend Grant.  Irvington will loose title on funding next year, which results in the loss of funding for one of our Kindergarten assistant next year. A fee will also be charged for Kindergarten next year.
  8. Ed, reported on Budget: Script orders have increased over the last several months. Electronic script such as Safeway and Whole foods continues to increase.  The budget continues to look good for the year.

9.      Auction updates: Auction donations are continuing to come in. Thank You to all       of the family sponsorships. Online ticket sales start February 13. Tickets can       also be purchase in the School office. A $5.00 fee will be charged for babysitting       this year, please reserve your spot. Discussed Special Appeal focus for this year’s       auction, lots of ideas are being considered.

10. Announcements:

      -Thanks to 8th graders, Miss Lafayette and all who supported the Chez Jose       fundraiser. 8th graders are getting closer to their fundraising goal for the D.C trip.       Thanks for the support.

      -Rachael M. has designed two new Irvington School t-shirts. The original Crayon Kids are still available for purchase.

      -Irvington School website is being updated. Stay tuned for the new updates.

      -Clothing Closet, Irvington’s day to staff the closet is coming up on February 9th,  if you are interested in helping please contact Maggie Price. She can be reached  at 503.928.9282 or maggieericprice@msn.com. 3-5 volunteers are needed.

      - Run 4 the arts, Please, contact Karen if you are interested in helping. Several volunteers are needed.

      -Black History Month Celebration, February 21st 12-3. Irvington’s School Choir is set to perform. Please join us for lunch and celebrate Black History.

      - Next PTA meeting March 5th  3:15-4:45. Childcare will be provided.
