Buy art. Change lives.

Irvingtons first and second graders in Room 100 (the Apple room), are giving a gift than can change lives. From now until February 15th our students are collecting and saving money to improve the lives of a childs family in a poor country. Irvingtons first and second graders will choose an animal to give to a family through the Heifer International association. We might choose a goat that will provide milk, a lamb that will provide wool, chicks that can grow up to lay eggs, honeybees, a pig or even a cow!

To raise money for Heifer, the Apple room is having a gallery show and art sale! All donations for student created art work goes directly toward an animal to give to a family in need. All art for sale is created by Apple room children (tempura art paintings, home made book marks) and will be for sale after school on Friday, February 15th, 2:45 pm- 3:30pm. Look for the gallery in the school hallway, exact location to be announced. Buy ArtChange Lives

From the Library

We will be having a book give-away in March. If you have any unwanted readables for children pre-k to 7th grade, please drop them off at the library. Thanks, Morreen

K-8 Feedback Wanted

On Feb 19th, our school community will have an opportunity to tell Supt. Carole Smith and her K-8 implementation team about the challenges and successes of Irvington's K-8 transition. The meeting

is being organized by the Portland Council PTA and each school

transitioning to K-8 will have an opportunity to provide public

testimony to the district staff. Kris Anderson (site council) and Irma Murauskas (PTA) will be representing Irvington and everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19th, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Rigler School, 5401 NE Prescott. If you have feedback about Irvington's K-8 program that you think Carole Smith should hear, please call or email Kris or Irma (the sooner the better!). Thank you!
