A solid working knowledge of how the pieces move and how to checkmate with a Queen and Rook are required to join Chess Club mid-season. Beginners are welcome in the fall. All donations for student created art work goes directly toward an animal to give to a family in need. All art for sale is created by Apple room children (tempura art paintings, home made book marks) and will be for sale after school on Friday, February 15th, 2:45 pm- 3:30pm. Carole Smith and her K-8 implementation team about the challenges and successes of Irvington's K-8 transition. The meeting is being organized by the Portland Council PTA and each school transitioning to K-8 will have an opportunity to provide public testimony to the district staff. Kris Anderson (site council) and Irma Murauskas (PTA) will be representing Irvington and everyone is welcome to attend the meeting. The meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19th, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Rigler School, 5401 NE Prescott.
