Calendar December 17 NO SCRIP ORDERS Site Council 4-6 p.m. 18 Family Write Night 6:30-8:00 p.m. Dec. 21-Jan. 6 Winter Vacation January 7 Back to School Principal's Thoughts Since Winter Break is just around the corner, this would be a good time to thank everyone for a fantastic first trimester. Students have received the first report card for this school year. Please sign and return the report card envelope if you haven't already done so. The 6th and 7th grade report cards were mailed home but some cards were missing a math grade. A corrected copy will arrive in the mail this weekend. Congratulations to all of the 6th and 7th grade students who made the Honor Roll. We will post the names of all of those students in the main hall when we return from the break. Several of the classes have begun creating their projects for the school auction scheduled for March 7th. Mary Jean Ranberg's class made a calendar that is already available for sale after school in the main hall and on the playground. Order forms are also in the Friday folder this week. All calendar proceeds will go to the Irvington PTA for the auction. Please put the Irvington Auction on your calendar for early this spring. It's a terrific community building and fundraising event. Our kids K-7 are enjoying many stimulating art opportunities during the school day as a result of the funds raised last spring during the auction. We also were able to re-carpet both Kindergarten rooms and several other classrooms and we have new bike racks planned for the spring. Everything purchased with auction funds directly benefits the students at Irvington so don't miss this opportunity to support our great kids. We had a few snowflakes last weekend which serves as a reminder that this is the season for inclement weather. Remember to listen to local news and weather stations or check the online services to get the most up to date school closure and late opening information. You can also check updates on the district's website at www.pps.k12.or.us or Portland Info Net at http//pdxinfo.net for all important school related weather news. Happy Holidays and a restful break to everyone! See you in 2008! Cafeteria News Attention Parents! There is over $500 in unpaid balances on student lunch accounts that must be cleared before December 19th. The district has a “no borrowing” policy. The only way a student may eat is: 1) have a current free and reduced form on file, 2) have money on their lunch account, 3) bring money every day that they want hot lunch, or 4) bring a sack lunch from home. Call me at school if you have questions about your child’s account balance. Students who have money owing on their accounts may only eat from the salad bar until payment is made. Thanks for immediate attention to this. Diana.
